When I was requested to do a Rent-A-car webpage, interconnected to a global booking server and with little over 10 days...I hesitated...to say the least...
The specification were somewhat vague and although I had a webpage as an example, I also had a specification document for the XML interface creation with 62 pages to analyze in record time.
There were so many little details that I feared that it could turn into one of those complicated projects full of ongoing modifications, leaving me little time to execute.
The budget was not that appealing and would certainly not pay the overtime I would do but…a challenge is a challenge and my professional life is full of them!
My main goal was to get a new client, so I got started right away!!
I used php with XML innterfaces and php API interconnected with a rent-a-car global provider. It was then created this online booking system that collects all the information from the operator (search results, car details, etc.) and displays it on the client’s webpage. It is also possible to customize full frontend layout.
The visitor picks, according to his preference, the car to rent, the extras, provides its data and goes to payment, following the usual online payment methods. The online booking is placed through a XML interface in the global external provider and is registered in the mysql database - emails are then sent to both client and an administrator email configured in the website’s settings with the confirmation and information regarding the online booking.
